Conexpo Asia to join Bauma China

Messe München the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) have extended their recent co-operation in India to merge Conexpo Asia 2010 into Bauma China.

Eugen Egetenmeir, deputy managing director of Messe München said: “This cooperation is set to give yet another boost to international, and especially US-participation by exhibitors and visitors in bauma China in Shanghai.”

AEM president Dennis Slater added: “The Chinese market continues to offer vast opportunities for the construction industry and our members. Our support of bauma China is a major component of our global solutions-oriented services targeting the China and Asia marketplace.”

At the last bauma China in November 2008, 81 of the 1,608 exhibitors at the fair came from the USA, with 210,000 square metres of exhibition space, bauma China is by far the largest and most successful trade fair in Asia for the sector.

bauma China 2010, the fifth, takes place from 23 to 26 November 2010 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

Sanity reigns

There is a limit even in very good times to how many ‘international’ mega shows the industry can afford or justify. The recent duplication in China made absolutely no sense and could have led to two poorer shows which would have served no one.

With the AEM putting its weight behind the already well established Bauma China the event is likely to grow even faster into one of two or three ‘global equipment exhibitions’.
