18 months after retiring from Manitowoc France, Gilles Marchand has created a new company, Standup, to buy and sell used cranes.
He told Vertikal.Net at Intermat that his aim is to source specific cranes for customers in Africa, the Middle East and other parts of Asia.
He says that he has already sold six large cranes and that got off to an excellent start.
Marchand spent 37 years in the crane business, initially with Coles France, where he became assistant general manager to André Faes. Coles France was acquired by Grove and following the retirement of Faes, Marchand took over as president.
Grove and its French distribution business were acquired by Manitowoc in 2002.
