Spider crane aids Polish PM

During recent restoration work carried out inside the Prime Minister's office in Poland, workers discovered a staircase dating back to 1904. The stairs are situated in front of the main entrance, under a new floor which had been rebuilt and laid over the top.

The chief of administration for the office decided that the stairs should be restored and covered with a glass floor for all to see.

It was immediately clear that manual installation of the glass floor was impossible due to the fact that each individual glass plate weighed 800kg. A mini crane was therefore selected for its compact dimensions, low ground bearing weight rubber tracks and electric power source.

The entrance into the building was only 1.5 metres wide, once inside the building there was only 25 square metres of space with a 30 degree difference in ground level. The job ideally suited a spider crane and a Maeda MC305CRM-E was selected for the job.

The lift was operated using its remote controls.
