Demag Cranes approves major restructuring.

Industrial, Port and overhead crane manufacturer, Demag Cranes has approved a major restructuring of its operations.

The restructuring will involve up to 750 job cuts worldwide and large provisions to fund it. The plan follows a 43 percent drop in order intake in its second fiscal quarter and a lack of visibility going forward.

The measures are aimed at reducing the company’s break even point and protecting its balance sheet, it says that capacity adjustments such as shedding temporary workers or implementing short-time working were not sufficient on their own.
