Ainscough take 20 150 tonners

Ainscough Crane Hire, the UK’s largest crane rental company has confirmed that it has ordered 20 Liebherr LTM1150-6.1 150 tonne All Terrain cranes. The first unit will be on display at Vertikal Days this week, at Haydock Park, near Manchester.

This acquisition comes on top of the company’s recent expansion into the heavy lift crawler crane market. Eight of the new All Terrain cranes will be delivered this year, with the remaining 11 to follow in 2010.

The six axle LTM1150-6.1 is one of Liebherr’s “all-in-one-cranes” and features a main boom of 66 metres and can carry a good part of its counterweight on UK roads.

Neil Partridge, managing director of Ainscough said: “while demand for lower capacity mobile cranes is particularly depressed, the requirement for larger mobile and heavy crawler cranes is buoyant and we are shifting our fleet emphasis accordingly.”
