Close work

A reader spotted two men in the Arndale Centre, Manchester, UK, this morning crammed into a 20ft Genie GR20 Runabout. One to drive and one to paint. They could have extended the platform and created more space.. BUT did they know that this is a one person lift with 159kgs lift capacity and therefore decided to keep the extension in just in case?

Two freindly painters

Looking at the size of them and the fact that they are indoors and have no room for tools, they will of course be fine, especially with the platform retracted and the lifts is equipped with an overload cut-out- so while it is clearly bad practice it does not quite qualify as a Death Wish.

However it is hard to imagine why the driver .. who is safety conscious enough to wear his hi-viz vest – feels he was needed? Maybe they work for the local council? Or Mr Hi-viz has an IPAF card and the other doesn’t? That would be an odd result to being trained! Hopefully our photographer had a quiet word?
