Mecaplús appoints in Germany
Spanish aerial lift manufacturer Mecaplús, has appointed AST GmbH as its exclusive distributor for its unique self levelling boom lifts in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
AST is based in Blaustein, Southern Germany, and is divided into two business areas - ‘AST Technology’ which specialises in the sale of specialised lifting equipment, including mast climbing work platforms from Canadian manufacturer Fraco and cranes from the Italian company Gelco.
The other business ‘AST Work Safety’ concentrates on engineering and service, including commissions from contractors to monitor construction sites, offer support in production processes and carry out staff training including IPAF operator training.
It also claims to be the only training centre in Germany, to offer all prescribed courses for chain saw use in elevated work platforms which it combines with the IPAF-PAL card.

The company said: “We have identified a unique chance with Mecaplus self-levelling articulated work platforms to link cost-effectiveness with complete safety for special activities, such as tree felling, cleaning tasks and installation work.”
AST has formed a special demonstration team with Mecaplus demo machines, will also offer training on the special lifts in accordance with IPAF PAL card standards.
Mecaplús is an offshoot of a specialist tree pruning contractor with over 20 years experience, in 2000 the company designed its first booms which dramatically improved efficiency, as well as the safety.
More recently it began to produce the lifts for other companies and has now added new models with larger two man platforms for more general applications, such as cleaning, painting, system installation and maintenance, etc…
The product range now includes regular and self levelling articulated booms, with 4x2, 4x4, full crawler chassis and half tracks.
