Crane and access Birthday cake

Bovis Lend Lease has celebrated the second anniversary of the Media City construction, in Manchester, UK, with a cake featuring a crane and work platform.

As AFI Uplift is the preferred supplier for aerial lifts the edible scissor lift was decorated in its orange livery, while the crane carried Bovis’s own identity.

The cake was shared out amongst the 1,500 contractors who are currently working on 200 acre development in Salford Quays for the creative and digital industries. The BBC will move 2,500 staff to MediaCity in 2011, including five departments currently based in London.

Bovis Lend Lease is the management contractor for the project which is being developed and managed by Peel Media, a division of the Peel Group, with the support of the Northwest Regional Development Agency, Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company and Salford City Council.

AFI director Graham Osmond said: “We are delighted to be working with Bovis Lend Lease on the Media City project and wanted to help them celebrate the anniversary by contributing to a cake, although with so many people on site it needed to be enormous.”
