Valla names Hird for the UK/Ireland

Italian crane manufacturer Valla has announced the appointment of Peter Hird & Sons as its distributor for the UK and Ireland effective this week.

Valla has also confirmed that, effective 21st July, the distribution agreement with Valla Cranes (UK) Ltd was terminated along with the right to use the Valla name. Click here Valla and Valla part company

A statement from Valla says: “We are very pleased to announce that effective from 15th September 2009, the sole distributorship of Valla Cranes in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland has returned to Peter Hird and Sons Ltd, who marketed Valla’s complete range of cranes for many years.”

“With their reputation and renowned knowledge of our products we feel they are able to offer the best service to customers throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.”

The Valla crane range

Peter Hird & Sons operates the largest fleet of industrial pick & carry cranes in the UK and was 18th largest mobile crane hire fleet in the UK/Ireland in the Cranes &Access 2009 Top 30 survey published earlier this week with 36 units.

This announcement is no surprise and was expected after Valla and Valla UK parted company at the end of July. Peter Hird and Valla UK are both owned by members of the Hird family. Earlier this year Peter Hird junior who had led Valla UK and also founded Compact Lifting Equipment (CLE) moved out of the family business – Peter Hird & Sons.

Phillip Hird and Peter Hird senior now head up the family business which sells and rents Valla cranes and aerial lifts and operates its long established training business, while Peter Hird junior is building up CLE which sells and rents a range of crane and access products in the UK, USA and in Middle East. It is also the Jekko spider and pick & carry crane distibutor for the Middle East.
