Connolly leads Iteco strategy

Martin Connolly, previously international sales manager with UpRight, is now worldwide project and distribution development manager with Imer Group, the Italian based concrete equipment manufacturer that acquired Iteco aerial lifts this summer.

We understand that he joined the company in April, when plans for the acquisition would have been in their infancy. Prior to joining UpRight in 2007 Connolly was with Terex Construction.

Imer is currently assessing the Iteco business and preparing a business plan and future distribution strategy. We understand that no decisions have yet been taken on individual markets.

Imer sells most of its production through a number of company stores that it owns in the UK, Spain, USA, Russia, Morocco, Singapore, Latin America and the Middle East. Some of these operations also distribute other equipment, such as Maber hoists in the UK and UpRight work platforms in Spain.

Imer also entered the access market earlier this year when it displayed if first spider lifts at Intermat.

We understand that it still wishes to sell through distributors, but clearly it will have some decisions to make in markets such as the UK and Spain, where it has company stores while Iteco has independent distributors.

It will also need to decide what to do with the spider lifts? does it keep them separate for move them into the Iteco business? Watch this space.
