Kobelco SL4500 'Light'
Kobelco Cranes has developed a new 300 tonne capacity ‘SL4500 Light Configuration’ version of its SL4500 launched at Intermat earlier this year.
The SL4500 Light Configuration is easy to transport and faster to set up than its 400 tonne big brother, although it maintains similar boom and jib combinations. With a maximum configuration of 132 metres with 66 metres of boom and a 66 metre luffing jib. A back mast/ suspended counterweight – SHL attachment is not currently available for the Light Configuration model.

The standard Kobelco SL4500 at Intermat
The base machine and boom base of the light configuration are common with the standard model with a three metre transport width.
However, the overall width of the attachments is only 2.5 metres, allowing for standard - economic transport using high bed trailers. A special tapered section is required to transition between the boom base and the upper sections.

The full counterweight – both superstructure and carbody - is 151 tonnes, compared to 230 tonnes on the regular model, reducing the number of trailers required to transport a fully rigged machine.
Load charts on a 60 metre main boom are almost identical, although naturally drop away from the 400 tonner on longer jib configurations.
