Crane operator and banksman shocked by headset
A crane operator and banksman communicating via radio headsets received severe electric shocks, suffering severe burns after the crane swung into power lines while working in Phoenix, Arizona, late Wednesday evening.
The crane which was working in narrow lanes near Broadway Road and 25th Avenue when it slewed to avoid hitting a large truck but the load hit the power lines.
The banksman was reportedly working at the bottom of a trench about 10 metres away from the crane and suffered second degree burns and blisters on his ears.
The crane operator suffered serious burns to his ears, face, chest and legs. Both men were taken to a nearby burn unit the Occupation Safety and Health Administration is currently investigating the incident.
