SkyKing kick's-off SED with Wumag sales

In the first of three announcements from SkyKing made for the first day of SED today, the company told Vertikal.net that it has sold four Wumag truck-mounted aerial platforms to EPL Access. The order comprises one, 35-metre working height WT350 mounted on a 14-tonne chassis, one, 45-metre working height WT450 on an 18-tonne chassis and two, 35.5-metre working height WT355s also mounted on 18-tonne chassis. EPL now operates a total of six Wumag units, following the purchase of two WT355s last year, with the possibility of adding a further two units before the end of the show. According to SkyKing’s Jim Longstaff, the units will be directly replacing older similar-sized Bronto Skylift truck-mounts in EPL’s fleet.

“Skyking has recently invested heavily in its after-sales service capabilities, which played a big part in winning the EPL deal, and is something which is not offered with the Bronto product, ” said Longstaff. “Customers who are spending over £200,000 per machine need to know this service is there.”

In a second announcement, SkyKing also disclosed the sale of ten, 12.5-metre working height 125 van-mounted units to Loxam Access.

Also on display to the public for the first time at SED, and the result of a collaboration between SkyKing and its suppliers, GSR, is the new Mast Reverse Articulated (MRA) van-mount. The unit features a telescopic vertical mast section, which means the unit can reach over parked cars, a characteristic, which Longstaff says, has only ever been offered by one manufacturer previously. The unit on show is a 14-metre working height, 7.3-metre outreach unit, which can be mounted on a 4.2-tonne chassis. A 15- and 15.5-metre version is also available.
