Another new cab-down RT

A small company in Iberia Ohio - Enterprise Fabrications has unveiled a prototype 15 ton cab-down Rough Terrain crane based on the 15 ton Galion crane that was so popular in the mid 1960’s

Enterprise has effectively been appointed as a sub contractor to build the crane – the OLC 150, (Ohio Louisiana Crane 15 tons), by crane parts company Cherry Picker Parts of St. Amant, Louisiana. Cherry Picker supplies a wide range or replacement parts and components, including those for all the old Galion and Pettibone cab down cranes still in daily use.

Up until now the relationship between the two companies has been limited to the fabrication of non-current replacement parts for these older cranes. Cherry Picker has also been involved with rebuilding and refurbishing the cranes for those users who find them ideal for their applications, such as oil field operators and the like.

We understand that Harold Trout and Bob Stauffer who were involved with the design of the Galion cranes have had some involvement with the design of the new model.

The new crane has completed its testing and is, we understand, now ready to show to prospective customers.

Enterprise has a tenuous historic connection with Galion which is more than just geographical, (Iberia is close to Galion Ohio) in that it owns Huber which can trace its roots back to Edward Huber whose Huber company of Marion Ohio was eventually merged into Dresser Industries – the final resting place for the Galion crane. Huber was also involved with the Marion crane and shovel company based in the same town.
