The new crane, an adaptation of the standard 400 tonne SL4500 model first shown at Intermat in April, features a new upper-frame and reduced counterweight configuration (80 tonne less than the standard version).
Kobelco says the aim was "to produce a high capacity optional version providing increased flexibility and reduced costs through even easier transportation and setting up."
With a load-moment of 2,140 tonne metres, it has a maximum 66 metre luffing jib on a 66 metre main boom giving a maximum tip height of 132 metres.

The swing-away cab and boom mounted winches reduce the weight and dimensions of the base machine, further simplifying transportation and assembly.
First deliveries are due to start early next year, but no customer details have been released.
