Executive Hire show round up

With a number of new products at this weeks show here is a round up of the ones that we have not already covered.

Power Tower Nano SP
The 2.5 metre platform height Power Tower Nano uses the same three section mast as the push around model with a two stage cylinder. A simple overload mechanism is fitted to the top of the mast and is accessible from the platform.

The wheelchair type drive controls are very simple, with the short four way controller mounted on a fold down arm. The operator stands with his back to the mast making for a very good braced position. The mini joystick has two buttons, one for on/off and the other for selection of drive speed or lift.

The operation is highly intuitive and allows the unit to be rotated on the spot thanks to the rear drive and front castors. The high speed is quick at 4.8 kph, ideal for crossing larger areas, the brakes are very smooth but stop the unit almost on the spot. Power Tower says that drive range is 12 kilometres.

The Nano SP has a 500mm roll-out deck option

The roll-out deck works well and provides 500mm of outreach and expands the platform to a very respectable 1.5 metres x 700mm. The company says that in addition to the major order form Lavendon it also has a 60 unit order from Speedy Hire.

EuroTower push around scissors
Alloy scaffold tower manufacturer EuroTower announced that it is selling the EazziLift push around scissor range under its own brand name and painted in silver. The aim is to offer its customers an alternative or addition to its low level tower products. The company is reporting a modest upturn in business this year and is optimistic that 2010 will be better.

The company has been appointed as the ATN distributor for the UK following an initial meeting at Vertikal Days last year. The company reported some strong interest in the product during the show and is optimistic over the prospects for the tracked model particularly for indoor applications on sensitive floors.

The company did show a retrofit stabiliser kit that would allow outdoor use as well as indoor, however the reception from most visitors was negative enough for the company to remove them and possibly abandon the idea of offering an outdoor option.

The company also unveiled its new advanced guardrail system for its span towers. The frame features a clamping device – the Cam-Lock- that makes the frame easier to remove and stiffens up the tower. Each frame which remains in situ on the tower replaces one horizontal and two diagonal braces.

Youngman says that while its Boss range can theoretically be built to 70 metres before exceeding the EN1004 deflection criteria, while towers built with its original advance guardrail frames could only achieve 10 metres, like most other systems on the market. The new Cam-Lock frames can achieve 40 metres. Demonstrating the additional rigidity that the system provides.

Finally JCB showed its new 515-40 Miniscopic compact telehandler that was announced in October.
