Jean Harrison retires today

IPAF’s event/committee co-ordinator Jean Harrison retires today after 28 years with the company.

Harrison joined IPAF in 1991 as a personal assistant, before being promoted to her co-ordinator role. Prior to her time at IPAF she was an executive secretary to the general secretary at Postal Telegraph and Telephone in Geneva, Switzerland, moving back to Carlisle, UK six years later to become secretary to the managing director at BSRD, before joining Paul Adorian at IPAF.

A very larger than life upbeat and positive person, Jean Harrison has always played a pivotal role at IPAF over the years, helping print the very first PAL card and being a key figure at public events, including her final show with IPAF at Vertikal Days last week. The association will miss her strong work ethic, while the members will miss her sense of humour, her laugh and infectious personality. Today is her last day at the office, and we wish her very well in her well deserved retirement.

IPAF chief executive Tim Whiteman said: “I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that Jean Harrison is one of the best known and well loved faces of the powered access industry, not just in the UK but worldwide! The outpouring of good wishes from across our industry when people have learned Jean is about to retire is fitting testament to just how popular and hard working she has been. Jean has had many roles during her time with IPAF, and has always embraced new responsibilities and technological innovations with enthusiasm and gusto. From helping to make the first ever IPAF PAL Cards soon after she joined in the mid 1990s, to demonstrating advanced operator training on a VR Simulator, the industry has certainly changed during her time at IPAF and Jean has moved with the times."

“On behalf of IPAF members and colleagues, thank you Jean and very best wishes for an enjoyable and well-earned retirement! I am sure we may still meet at industry events and social gatherings in the months and years ahead and we certainly won’t lose touch!”

Jean will be surely missed at IPAF. A true professional with great attitude towards all the duties she fulfilled in different roles through her 28 years IPAF career. She has been an internal sample for many when it comes to loyalty, commitment and understanding towards members who actually own this Federation. Clearly not everyone understands, and/or acts, to that accordingly; another great moment and opportunity to get the broom through!
I wish here a great retirerment and a lot of relaxation for many many more years.

Jean has been an ever-present in IPAF and has been an absolute credit to herself and the organisation. She will be sorely missed by the membership and an extremely hard act to follow and from the whole team at Clements Plant in Coventry we wish her a long, healthy and happy retirement.
