Genie wins procurement contract
Terex AWP/Genie has been awarded a state and municipal purchasing contract with the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA), which serves more than 31,000 US government agencies, public and non public educational systems, and non-profit organisations.
The four-year contract appoints Terex/Genie as the NJPA’s exclusive source for aerial work platforms. The aim of the NJPA is to provide participating agencies to benefit from nationally agreed discounts based on their pooled purchasing power, while speeding up and simplifying the procurement process.
Rusty Pugh, government sales manager for Terex AWP said: “Working with the NJPA is a unique opportunity to increase the exposure of our products, we will be able to reach a broad audience while providing a shorter lead time at competitive pricing. We look forward to working with the NJPA and Genie dealers to provide world class business solutions to government agencies, school districts and non-profits nationally.”
“Traditional bid proposals cost an agency an average of $8,000 to complete; this is simply a better way of doing business. Government agencies view contracts as a cost effective manner to procure equipment,” adds Greg Haglin, NJPA contract manager. “Contract purchasing is increasing at a very rapid rate within local and state government purchasing. The speed to acquisition and cost are the absolute drivers.”
The relationship between Terex and the NJPA will be managed by the Federal Contracts Corp, which will monitor the bidding nationally, advise Terex of opportunities, address questions or concerns, assist dealer sales in quotations, and establish training programs.
