VGM's new TeleRailer
Tilburg based VGM took over the Manitou franchise for the Tilburg region last year. The principals – including Hans Visser were previously with VHS which built a number of 360 degree rail-mounted telehandlers.
The new TeleRailer 1842, as you might expect from its name, has a lift height of 18 metres and a maximum capacity of 4,200kgs. It uses a high rail concept with the road wheels lifted well clear of the tracks when on rails. The track drive units allow the machine to be levelled on cambers etc by up to 14 degrees and both are driven via their own dedicated pump and motor for extra power and reliability. Maximum speed is 40kph and the units have enough power to pull a wagon and handle gradients. Braking is on all four wheels.

The TeleRailer has a shortened tail-swing for working within a single track width - note the side platform to carry passengers
The unit includes a wide range of special attachments including a fully integrated work platform. Any standard Manitou attachment can also be fitted.
More coverage on this machine will be carried in the telehandler feature of the next Cranes & Access magazine.
