The operator of a Rough Terrain crane was rescued from his cab by firemen using a fire ladder yesterday.

The crane tipped over at the Canton East Side Waste Water Treatment Plant in Canton Illinois, yesterday morning.

We have no information on what the crane, which is owned by local contractor Leander Construction, was doing at the time, but for some inexplicable reason the operator had not extended the outriggers, he had though used a decent sized mat.

We understand that the operator suffered minor injuries which prevented him from getting out of the cab. Another man was also injured as he fell while running away from the falling crane.

Leander is currently installing a wall in a flow basin at the sewage works.
