Santa's custom built ‘dumper sleigh’

The campaign launched today – with the help of Santa and a custom built ‘dumper sleigh’ – marks the beginning of a series of Christmas initiatives which include staff fundraising over the 12 days of Christmas, a Christmas Dinner Day for homeless people and a charitable rental agreement called Home for a Home.

Through the Home for a Home programme, Hewden is encouraging its customers to keep its equipment on-site over the Christmas shutdown period. In return, the it will offset the saved transportation costs and make a fixed donation per contract to CRASH.

Jeff Schofield, sales and marketing director at Hewden said: “At this time of year there is an increase in transport activity as equipment is often off hired only to be redelivered after the Christmas break. By encouraging our customers to keep kit safe and secure on-site, we can instead donate to a worthy cause and also reduce the impact on the environment.”

At the end of the fundraising campaign, the ‘Dumper Sleigh’ will head south to give the proceeds from all initiatives to the CRASH charity.

Francesca Roberts, chief executive of CRASH said: “As a charity, we have already done a huge amount to support the 260,000 people in the UK living on the streets, in hostels or temporary accommodation. Hopefully with the help of organisations such as Hewden we can do even more next year.”
