The crane stows under cover within the nacelle

The PK 40002 on-board crane has been certified by GL and DNV and stow within the nacelle of the turbine. Palfinger Wind and REpower have worked together on such built-in products since 2003 and are now almost a standard component on this type of turbine. The delivery of this latest order will begin in 2012.

Thomas Nitsch of Palfinger’s wind division said: “We offer our customers a well thought-out and internationally tested service concept. It is based on a number of nacelle and platform cranes which are custom-designed and perfectly matched to each other in addition to a global service network. Thanks to our cranes loading and unloading from supply ships and helicopter platforms become faster and safer. Handling of loads inside nacelles and platforms is also made considerably easier for the service teams.”

Matthias Bessert, commodity manager at REpower Systems SE added: “Palfinger Wind is a reliable and highly competitive partner that offers high-quality products. Its global positioning enables it to respond to customer requirements with particular flexibility. These are strong arguments for us to continue to push ahead with our collaboration.”
