A besotted man in Fuyang, eastern China rented a crane and platform in order to propose to his girlfriend in her sixth floor apartment – bad idea.

Zhu Lei prepares to surprise the love of his life, looking at the platform he is risking more than a simple rejection

The love struck man Zhu Lei rented the crane, complete with a hook suspended platform from a local crane company, we were not sent a photo of the crane, but the platform looks like a death trap.

Up he goes

As it was it was not the platform that caused Zhu the problem, when he reached the sixth floor window he called out to his beloved in classic Romeo and Juliet style, “‘Na Na, I love you. Please marry me”, but instead of receiving a positive answer he was ended up with a basin of water in his face.

Here comes the proposal followed quickly by the basin of water

Neighbours suggested that the water may have come from his prospective mother-in-law who clearly disapproves - rather than his loved one. Lucky for Zhu, he made it back down to the ground without suffering a second trauma from the platform.
