Tower crane failure in China
Four men died when a 70 metre tower crane collapsed in Guangdong Province, China late on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred on the construction site of the employee accommodation buildings at the BYD Battery plant in the Dayawan Economic and Technical Development Zone in the city of Huizhou.
Three of the men were killed at the scene of the incident, while the other died in hospital while surgeons attempted to save him. Construction on the site has been suspended while an investigation is carried out.
We do not have any further details at this point, although one preliminary report indicates that the men were erecting or dismantling the crane - this has not been confrimed though.
