United promotes Flannery

United Rentals has appointed Matt Flannery as chief operating officer following the completion of the RSC acquisition, he was previously executive vice president - operations and sales and is leading the RSC integration process.

Flannery joined United when it acquired McClinch Equipment in 1998, since when he has held various management positions with at the branch, district, regional and national levels, he was promoted to senior vice president – operations East in 2008, adding Western operations in 2010. He has been in his current role since April 2011.

United’s chief executive Michael Kneeland said: “Matt understands every nuance of our business, as well as our customers and markets. Over the past four years, he has helped drive our strategy and guide our operations through the economic downturn. Most recently, he has been instrumental in preparing for our landmark combination with RSC, and will continue to play a key role in that transition. We are delighted to welcome him to his expanded role on our leadership team.”
