Valla 25EL for façadeTek

Indianapolis, USA based façade specialist façadeTek has purchased a 2.5 ton Valla 25EL pick & carry crane to install 2,800 of the 3,400 individual curtain wall units on the 40 storey Optima Center in Chicago.

The Valla 25EL

The company won the building enclosure contract for the high rise apartment building, with its more than 17,650 square metres (190,000sqft) of custom manufactured unitised curtain wall. The system integrates over 800 zero sightline windows designed, manufactured and tested by facadeTek. Testing of the performance mock-up was completed in April and field installation starts next month.

The battery powered Valla 25EL will be the sole machine working on the curtain wall units, the crane’s 2.25 tonne capacity, special high storage hoist drum - with 68 metres (223ft) of usable cable - and double speed AC winch drive with up to 13 metres a minute line speeds make it ideal for the job. The unit was also specified with wireless remote controls.
