Retrofit Hybrid package

Terex Utilities has launched its HyPower Hybrid system for retrofitting almost any make of truck mounted lift.

The “plug-in Power Take-Off system” available on new Terex utility trucks, stores energy in a battery pack, either by charging from the mains or from the truck the PTO drive while travelling or idling. Once on location the power pack can be used to operate all of the platform functions from slew to telescope. The system is designed to save fuel, reduce exhaust emissions and cut noise when working.

The Terex HyPower retrofit pack will fit most utility truck lifts that are five years old or younger. Currently available in North America the packs can be fitted at any one of 14 Terex Equipment Services locations.

The first step is an initial inspection, which includes an understanding of the truck’s available payload capacity, body configuration and cab-to-axle length to accommodate the battery packs. After the inspection, retrofits can be completed in as little as two weeks.

The Terex HyPower system can be fitted to almost any utility truck that is less than five years old

Nick Cammisa, Terex national accounts manager said: “Retrofitting our HyPower system onto a current utility truck, including aerial devices and digger derricks, can help customers ‘green up’ their fleet at a reduced capital investment versus purchasing a new HyPower unit.”

The HyPower system reduces the engine idle hours on the job site, resulting in fewer oil changes, lower fuel consumption, as well as reducing the amount of times an engine will need to go into re-gen mode. Most competitive aerial device makes and models qualify for this retrofit option.”
