Second time lucky

A team from Horizon Platforms in the UK has now completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.

The team was due to set out in the charity fund raiser in July but torrential rain and flooding forced the attempt to be called off, or rather postponed. This weekend the team did finally set out on the challenge with 17 members completing the charity walk on Saturday, raising a total of over £3,000 for Wakefield Hospice.

The Challenge involves a 25 mile hike through the Yorkshire Dales taking in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, with a combined ascent of almost 1,600 metres. In order to join the 3 Peaks Yorkshire Club you must complete the course within 12 hours!

The Horizon team on the 3 peaks challenge

The quickest finishers on the day were Ben Hirst and Tom Brook getting back in just over eight hours. The rest of the team staggered over the finish line throughout the afternoon with most completing the course in allotted time.

Horizon organiser Dave Williams said: “The team raised over £3,000.00 for Wakefield Hospice from individual and group fund raising efforts, making all the blisters and aching limbs well worth the effort. The whole team at Horizon would like to say a big thank you to everyone in the Access Industry for their words of encouragement and generous donations.”
