JLG changes European structure

JLG is merging its European, Africa and Middle East regional businesses into a single entity under a new general manager. The structural change takes effect on December 3rd.

The company has appointed Karel Huijser to run the new operation as general manager and vice president of JLG Europe, Africa and the Middle East. As part of the change Wayne Lawson, currently managing director of sales in the region will step down from his role early next year.

Karel Huijser


Huijser, joins the company from Tennant, the sweeper company. After training as an industrial designer, he began his career with DAF Trucks in The Netherlands in 1986 and spent six years with the company in roles of increasing responsibility. He then moved to General Electric and over the next 14 years held positions ranging from marketing manager, to global Six Sigma leader, to chief executive of GE Infrastructure in Asia Pacific. He joined Tennant Europe in 2006 as international vice president.

In his new role he will assume responsibility for all business functions in the region and will have full financial and operational responsibility.

Lawson, currently president of the International Powered Access Federation – IPAF - plans to “step back from active service” at the end of March 2013, after which he will serve JLG in a consultancy role.

Wayne Lawson


The announcement says: “JLG wishes to thank Wayne for his many years of dedicated service, which began in 2001 and extends to the present day. He took on additional leadership responsibility in the last few years, and was instrumental in guiding the organization through a severe economic downturn and delivered many successes along the way. Wayne continues to be available to support this new structural transition.”
