AlturaLift to liquidate

Donegal, Ireland-based AlturaLift has declared insolvency and says that it is winding up its activities and appointing a liquidator.

The company led by Philip O’Donnell, currently has the corporate name of Ardaitheoiri Teo-trading as AlturaLift which it claims stopped trading on the 23rd of November last year. The company mounted, sold and rented a wide variety of access equipment tailored to the utility market.

Until last year it was the Isoli distributor for Ireland and sold a number of the company’s 28 metre PNT280J booms mounted on Yanmar tracked chassis.

It also claimed to have the only di-electric testing facility in Ireland for insulated aerial devices. The current company has, we understand, been trading since 2010, but O’Donnell claims over 15 years in the business.

The reason given for the liquidation of the latest incarnation is a failure to agree a settlement with the Irish Inland Revenue. A letter to creditors, that we have seen, apologises to creditors and says that it ‘intends’ to hold a creditors meeting in the near future.

Vertikal Comment

Philip O’Donell and AlturaLift have been the subject of a number of complaints for slow or non-payment to suppliers in the past. The company has though built some interesting products and serves an industry that compared to the construction industry is stable, rich and with a decent payment profile.

The company also claimed to export a good deal of its output at least to the UK, so was not entirely dependent on the Irish market. The big question is – is this a final bankruptcy or - as is more likely - will we see the business pop up again under a different name, but still trading as AlturaLift? If so you have been warned.
