Platform capacity is 400kg with which an outreach of 23 metres is possible, maximum outreach is 27 metres with 120kg platform capacity. The platform has a full 180 degrees of rotation. The lift has an overall length of 8.6 metres, with a 2.55 metre overall width and 3.79 metres overall height.

Isoli points out that it is not new to larger aerial lift production, and claims to have been one of the first Italian companies to produce larger lifts, although in recent years it has focussed on lifts under 27 metres.

In the past three years the company has completely revamped its aerial lift range, introducing eight new models of 23 metres or less. The success of this new programme has encouraged it to move back into larger models.

Vertikal Comment

In recent years the Italian manufacturers have dominated the 3.5 tonne truck mounted lift market while buyers in many markets prefer to buy German or Finnish when it comes to larger, more expensive machines.

There are a number of factors that are far more important for larger machines, than for smaller models, such as: parts and service support – there is a big difference between having a 20 metre self-drive unit stood waiting for parts compared to a 60 metre model and its operator. Resale value – with larger machines this is a more significant part of the total return equation, and reliability some of the early large Italian platforms many built by companies no longer with us, incorporated technology that was unproven and quality levels that were sadly lacking. Some of those reputational issues rubbed off onto other better quality Italian producers and stuck.

However over the past six or seven years the better producers have built up solid reputations with their 3.5 tonne truck mounts and proven themselves in areas such as reliability, product support, design integrity and build quality. Distribution could be a challenge in many markets, selling a 60 metre lift requires additional skills and support and a different approach to that required for 3.5 tonners.

However you expect to see Italian manufacturers gain a larger share of the 30 to 50 metre market over the next few years, as they stir up what is already an competitive and dynamic market.
