King helped found CTE UK in 2002 after spotting the potential market for lightweight truck mounted lifts, following the changes to the driver licensing laws in UK and Ireland. During a trip to Italy to meet potential suppliers, he recognised the advantages of the articulated sigma boom design of which CTE was a leading producer. After speaking with the company CTE UK was born.

In the 10 years that followed he built up a large portfolio of customers for CTE - particularly in the rental market - such as Smart Platforms, Panther, Kestral, EPL, Orion and eventually Nationwide Platforms, all of which became major customers for the CTE product range, and by 2005 the Z-20 had become a benchmark product for the UK self-drive truck mount rental market.

CTE UK had a record year in 2012, making King’s decision more difficult than ever. However the increasing demands of Power Towers, which was born out of CTE UK in 2006 and is now the leading manufacturer of low level access products forced the decision.

Michele Hillebrand, managing director of CTE UK said: “On behalf of the management and all employees of both CTE Spa and CTE UK, I would like to thank Brian for his past contribution to the success of CTE in the UK, and wish him much good luck for the future.”
