Childs joins CPS

UK based aerial lift service company Central Platform Services (CPS) has appointed Nick Childs as general manager.

Childs has extensive experience in the industry, having previously worked as general manager at Nationwide Platforms. Previous to that he headed the access division for UK rental company Hewden. His new responsibilities include handing sales, operational compliance and safety and environmental procedures.

CPS director John Burton, said: “Nick's appointment gives us an opportunity for a new chapter in our business. The Bronto opportunity is huge and will rely on a degree of face-to-face activity to promote the after sales, spares and warranty work. Nick will be able to visit customers and promote our services as well as provide us with stable & structured general management of our business. One area that is pivotal to this chapter is accreditation to ISO9001 for quality, which Nick is working towards for us at the moment.”

Ian James, sales director of Bronto for the UK, added: "This gives us an opportunity to really push our after sales service as something of value to both existing and potential customers. Nick will be able to help promote the service offering of CPS, as well as assist Bronto in securing future orders as a result of our leading after sales back-up."

Childs added: “What an opportunity this presents to me. John and Neil have developed a very successful business from their base in West Yorkshire, however to achieve the levels of growth that are evident out there, we need to look further than our doorstep. The reputation of CPS travels well and their skills are in high demand, but that means the opportunity for growth is very much there. Our differentiation, in what is a "crowded market", can only be helped by our association with a quality product like Bronto.”

Located just south of Pontefract, South Yorkshire, CPS is owned and run by bothers John and Neil Burton. The company provides after sales service and inspection as well training, refurbishments and sales. Last year it was appointed as Bronto Skylift’s service partner in the UK – see: Bronto expands UK service network.
