220t Grove for Rachinger
German crane rental company Rachinger has taken delivery of a new 220 tonne Grove GMK5220 All Terrain crane
The new crane takes over from a 100 tonne Grove GMK5100 as the flagship of Rachinger’s 13 unit crane fleet. Established in 1990, Rachinger is based in Gunzenhausen, Bavaria – to the south west of Nuremburg – and serves customers throughout South central Germany with both cranes and façade panel handling devices.

The crane’s first job was at the Playmobil toy warehouse, where it installed pre-cast concrete components weighing up to 29 tonnes, lifting them to a radius of 17 metres. The five-axle crane has a 68 metre boom and can be extended to 105 metres with jib.

Rachinger's new GMK5220 out on its first job
Owner Reinhold Rachinger said: “A new crane is a big investment so we research carefully to ensure we choose the right one. The GMK5220 was the front runner because it is fully-equipped for our needs and all of its features, especially the unique aluminium wheel rims that only Grove offers, keep the crane within the legal weight limits of Germany’s roads. This is crucial for us.”
