Dorothy Mort R.I.P

We have received the sad news that Dorothy Mort, a pioneer of the UK powered access industry, has died following a battle with cancer. She is survived by David, her husband of 62 years and business partner.

David and Dorothy Mort were a truly entrepreneurial couple having founded and owned Port Talbot Plant (PTP) at a time when self-propelled booms were just coming on the scene. They were at the very forefront of the modern access rental business.

We will draft a more detailed report and tribute as soon as we have gathered a little more information. As can be imagined this is a difficult time for the family, which includes son Tony, an access industry veteran in his own right. In the meantime our thoughts are with them.

We understand that there will be a private family service followed by a celebration of her life at a later date.

Comments

Deepest sympathy to David, Tony and Cathy on their tragic loss. I joined the company in the Port Talbot Plant days and never looked back. A super family to work with and many fond memories of trips with David and Dorothy to such exotic places as Esso Fawley and H.M. Dockyard at Devonport for lunches with customers.
Terrible news

Very sad news, which brings back many fond memories of old times especially Dorothy persuading me in to the platform of the - then new - Simon S600 at Bauma in the '80s to join PTP in a celebration at 60m. I remember the champagne (alcohol essential at 60m in those days), not sure about harnesses etc. - good times.

So sorry to hear of your loss Tony, I'll catch up with you privately.

I wish to offer my sincerest condolences to all the family.
I had the great pleasure of working for and with Dorothy and David in truly entrepreneurial times in the 70's and 80's , right up to the time PTP sold to BET
Dorothy and David were a great team and all of us who worked at PTP learned a lot from "the family"
We had great fun in those formation years of the UK powered access industry , nothing is as enjoyable as success and we had it in spades
My sincerest condolences to David, Tony, Cath and all the family
Best wishes Mike and Val Evans and family RIP
