First Liebherr Crawler for Crane Service

US crane rental company Crane Service has taken delivery of its first Liebherr crawler crane, a 300 tonne LR1300SX.

The new crane, was shipped directly to the company’s location in Sweetwater, Texas, arriving earlier this month for its first job on a wind farm in nearby Nolan, central Texas.

The unit is equipped with carbon fibre pendants for improved lifting capacities and is able to self-erect 86 metres of main boom plus seven metre heavy-duty wind jib. In this configuration the crane can handle over 75 tonnes at a 15 metre radius. The maximum system length is 169 metres, comprising 56 metres of main boom plus 113 metre luffing jib.

The LR1300SX shipped through Galveston, Texas at the end of August


On its first job the crane is being used to carry out maintenance work on 80 metre high wind turbines, removing and replacing rotors weighing around 69 tonnes, in order to change out shafts and gearboxes.

Albuquerque, New Mexico, based Crane Service operates a diverse crane fleet from five locations in Texas and New Mexico.
