One harness to another

The television show ‘Austria´s Next Topmodel’ has filmed an episode involving a boom lift and a variety of harnesses.

In episode five of the show, the 20 candidates, who have been fighting to win the accolade since the middle of September, had an unusual challenge – showing off their best poses while suspended from the ceiling in a harness.

The models started off close to the ceiling

In order to place the contestants in the ‘posing harness’ the company rented in a 49ft platform height/17 metre working height Manitou 170 AETJ-L battery powered articulating boom lift.
The participants were lifted in the platform, to a trapeze type suspension frame connected to the ceiling, their harnesses were attached to the ropes and the platform lowered, leaving them suspended ready to start posing.

The 17 metre battery powered Manitou proved ideal for the job

The contestant harnesses/lanyards for the boom lift lacked some finesse, with the performance harness simply connected to the guardrails with a short web sling. They could have benefited from an alternative lanyard, but no matter - it looked as though the platform operator did not bother with a harness at all.
