Weedy abseilers

Spotted in Nottingham over the weekend to men working for a tree care company removing weeds and tree saplings from a wall and abutment having chosen rope access as the best solution.

According to our correspondent though the rope was attached to a mini excavator, although possibly this was the back-up rope??? One wonders if a spider lift might have been a better bet, particularly a smaller unit with below ground reach?

What might be the best solution to this access problem?

Or a larger one working from the grass below? As it was this method employed two men and a digger and would have been relatively slow? Not sure this is one for our death wish series and professionally conducted rope access can be every bit as safe as a platform and often the best access solution all round.
