Nifty for Felbermayr

Austrian crane, access and heavy transport company Felbermayr has taken delivery of its first 86ft Niftylift HR28 4x4 Hybrid lift.

The articulated boom lift, purchased through Ruthmann Austria, provides a working height of 28 metres and 19 metres of outreach with an unrestricted 280kg platform capacity. The machine was acquired after the company was approached by one of its customer’s - Jirka, a specialist joinery company that has been in business since 1922. Jirka was estimating a contract to restore the windows on Vienna’s Kunsthistorisches Museum, and asked Felbermayr to visit the site with its estimators, to recommend a suitable work platform for the job.

In addition to the challenging reach and capacity issues, the building’s owner – the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft - or state property agency - had dictated that the equipment should make little to no noise, and certainly no exhaust fumes, due to the fact that the artwork restoration work that is carried on in the building, could not be interrupted by the building work.

Felbermayr quickly realised that realised that it didn't have a lift in its fleet that would fit the specific requirements, and certainly did not have a hybrid lift with this sort of performance. It also identified that the Niftylift was the ideal machine for the job.

Felbermayr’s Thomas Daxelmüller said: "It was clear that the conditions would not be easy. The client requested no noise and no fumes in order to avoid disruption to the work being carried out at the facility. We knew that we needed to invest in a 28 metre working height hybrid machine, so we contacted Ruthmann Austria to check if it had any Nifty platforms available for quick delivery. The HR28 will certainly not be the last device of this type in the Felbermayr fleet."
