Samuel Ray Anthony 1958 - 2017
We have just received the sad belated news that Sam Anthony, chief executive of Anthony Crane passed away on June 18th, he was just 58.
He grew up in the crane rental business and worked with his father, Ray Anthony, for many years. He took up his first senior role with the family company in 1988, looking after four depots in the South West from a base in Dallas, Texas.
He became president of the aerial lift and telehandler division - Anthony Equipment in 1994, and then left the business in 1988 after it was acquired by Bain capital - becoming a key building block for Maxim Crane Works.
After a couple of years he moved into the luxury and rare car business, and was president of the Exotic Auto Warehaus in Boca Raton.
In 2006 he rejoined the crane business as chief operating officer of Ray Anthony International. He also started a consultancy and financial support business - Anchor Crane and Equipment - in 2010, offering a range of crane related services. He became chief operating officer of Anthony Crane in 2011 and then chief executive.
He is survived by his parents Ray and Joan, wife Jacklyn A. Nealon Anthony, daughter Lindsay Rae Bain and grandchildren, Gavin and Laila Bain. We hope to be able to add a more to this report later.
