Date picking Comet Xiraffes

Italian truck and trailer mounted lift manufacturer Co.Me.T has delivered several of its 12 metre Xiraffe 4x4 ultra compact articulated boom lifts to three date plantations, one in Peru, one in Saudi Arabia and one in Jordan.

The Xiraffe is mounted on a four wheel drive Yanmar powered articulated mini tractor, with an overall length of just 3.75 metres when stowed and an overall width of 1.8 metres. It offers an outreach of 4.5 metres with an unrestricted platform capacity of 150kg.

The Xiraffe working in the Amazon rain forest

The outriggers have a maximum width of 3.16 metres with up to 700mm of leveling lift. One of the machines is working in Peru's Amazon rainforest where it can reach areas inaccessible to other types of platform, given its wide high flotation tyres and maximum travel speed of 18.9kph and ability to travel on roads. The aerial lifts are being used to pick fruit etc, and replaces other equipment such as ladders. A 14 metre version is also available that provides seven metres of outreach.
