First Liebherr RTs for Middle East

Dubai based Al Faris Equipment Rentals has taken delivery of two Liebherr Rough Terrain cranes, a 90 tonne LRT 1090-2.1 and a 100 tonne LRT 1100-2.1, the first of the new Liebherr RTs to arrive in the Middle East.

The two axle LRT 1090-2.1 features a 47 metre main boom and a 10.5 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 40 degrees of offset. The LRT 1100-2.1 has a 50 metre main boom and features a 10.5 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway option with up to 40 degrees of offset. Al Faris will use the new cranes for medium and long term projects in the civil construction and mineral oil industries. They form part of an order - see the story here - which will be delivered before the end of the year.

Hillary Pinto of Al Faris Equipment Rentals (L) and Holger Amann of Liebherr

Owner Hillary Pinto said: "We have wanted Rough Terrain cranes from Liebherr for a long time now. We are delighted that we can now supplement our crane fleet with the new LRT cranes so that we can continue to grow together with Liebherr. The safety features of the Liebherr LRT cranes are unique on Rough Terrain cranes. The new LRT cranes are a perfect addition to our fleet. The Middle East is one of the largest markets for Rough Terrain cranes. They are essential for us as we also wish to grow in this market segment. The first two machines went straight to a construction site after the handover. The other 12 LRT cranes which Liebherr will deliver before the end of this year will also go straight into use."

Established in 1992, the Al Faris Group is one of the largest crane and transport rental companies in the Middle East, employing 3,200 at five sites in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The company has a fleet of over 350 All Terrain, Rough Terrain and crawler cranes ranging from 25 to 1,200 tonnes, as well as aerial lifts and forklifts.
