Teichmann acquires Krafotec
German used overhead crane company Teichmann has acquired Wittenberg based overhead, gantry and container crane manufacturer Krafotec.
Teichmann will retain all of the Krafotec employees and production facilities and all other aspects of the operation. Krafotec was formed out of Takraf Gresse the largest crane manufacturer in the old GDR- East Germany. The company has a 130 years tradition as a crane manufacturer. It has and active population of more than 150 container cranes and 500 gantry cranes.
Teichmann buys and refurbishes a wide range of industrial cranes, offering them as an alternative to new cranes aat roughly half the price. It employs 400 staff across 10 locations in Germany and Switzerland, with 30 employees joining from Krafotec.

Managing director Ralf Teichmann said: "With Krafotec we have gained a long established crane manufacturing company, that due to its tradition and experience is a valuable addition. With the newly acquired site, we will use the existing know how in design, production and service to further grow but at the same time remain as flexible as possible being a medium size company. We will continue to offer the complete crane package to our Krafoec customers - from the crane delivery to after-sales services such as our spare parts service. The synergy effects of the Teichmann Group in the area of service and maintenance with locations in Berlin, Eisenhüttenstadt, Rostock, Erfurt, Wittenberg, Essen, Duisburg, Augsburg, Mannheim and Basel furthermore enables us to provide excellent reaction times for our customers."
