Norty Turner leaves Riwal
Norty Turner has resigned as group chief executive of Netherlands based rental group Riwal and left the company to “begin a new chapter in his career”.

Taking over from Dick Schalekamp, he has overseen a transition from a company run along the lines of a close - slightly informal run - family business, to a more structured and corporate organisation.

Vertikal Comment
This is something of a surprise. When he joined Riwal, Norty Turner had some major challenges in trying to change an organisation made up of like minded individuals that operated a large company that was run along the same lines as a one location privately owned owner operated rental company, which worked as long as the multiple personalities were all on board and able to communicate closely – more than a challenge in a multi national group!
He certainly appeared to have achieved the task which many thought that he – or anyone else – would fail at. But he had run into a few challenges in recent months that on their own do not amount to much, but which may well have spurred on his departure?
The company has a number of good potential chief executives in the wings – in itself a credit to his tenure – it is therefore quite possible that his replacement will be found within the company?
