We have received the sad news that UK crane industry veteran Charlie Banks, managing director of UK based Mobile Telescopic Cranes passed away on Monday. He was 78.
Banks entered the crane industry as a tower crane operator for Seddons in the early 1980s, later moving over to mobile cranes, joining rental company Roadcraft at its Stoke-on-Trent depot, where he eventually became depot manager. In 1986 he set up Mobile Telescopic Cranes, starting with just one crane. In 1998 he acquired Hancock Machinery Removals, which he managed alongside MTC.
He leaves behind his wife Mary and their two children Catherine and Elizabeth. In the words of his colleagues: “Charlie was a true gentleman and is a great loss to our industry.”
