Potain adds to UK sales team

Manitowoc UK has appointed Wybe Smit as regional sales manager for Potain tower cranes in the UK and Ireland.

He is currently Potain regional sales manager for the Netherlands, Belgium and Scandinavia and will continue to manage the Scandinavian and the Netherlands in addition to his new role in the UK, but will now report to UK managing director Kim Dandridge.

Wybe Smit

Smit began his career in 1998 as a trainee with industrial engineering company IJssel Technologie, before moving into the formwork industry as an engineer with Gadon bekistingtechniek. A couple of years later he joined the sales team at Dutch concrete contractor Konosch, leaving in 2006 to join multinational formwork specialist Outinord as a project manager. The following year he moved to concrete contractor Hendriks as a technical advisor.

In 2010 Smit joined the editorial team at construction publisher VOBN, before moving back into sales at the end of 2011 when he joined N.I.B.M Crane and Lift Technology as sales manager. In late 2013 he joined tower crane rental company and equipment dealer Fontexx as an account manager for the LudwigHook system. After a short period he and a colleague established a car rental business - A12, while he also established sales and consultancy business - Smit Sales & Advice.

He joined Manitowoc in 2014 as Potain regional sales manager for the Netherlands and Belgium, adding Scandinavia to his territory in 2016.
