Skyjack expands in Korea

Skyjack has increased its presence in Asia with a new location and larger team in South Korea.

Located in Gyeonggi-do, just outside of Seoul, the 2,000 square metre location will be managed by South Korea general manager Jongchul ‘JC’ Chun, who joined Skyjack in 2018 from Atlas Copco Korea, where he was a business line manager.

Skyjack originally entered the market in 1994 with a sales operation, adding a dedicated service support operation in 2013. The company said that the new facility will allow it to improve its coverage and meet the needs of its growing customer base in the country.

Chun began his career in 2002 as an associate strategy manager with Doosan, later moving up through the organisation as business development manager for India in 2006, sales and marketing manager for the Middle East in 2007, before transferring to the USA with the company in 2011 as head of global strategy. In 2015, he was appointed as head of Portable Power Asia at Doosan Bobcat Korea, and a year later head of dealer development. He left Doosan in 2016 for Yudo-suns where he was global sales director, leaving to join Atlas Copco a year later.

Simon Cracknell market development director Asia said: “Asia is a growing market that cannot be ignored, and this facility is a testament to our commitment to help grow the access market here. As we did with the Chinese market, we started first with sales and service and now have a full team operating from our Gyeonggi-do, South Korea office led by general manager, JC Chun. JC’s experience working with Doosan Bobcat in the US and Asia Pacific markets made him an excellent fit for our team.”

Chun added: “The powered access industry in Asia is relatively new and has a bright future as more people begin to see the productivity benefits of it over scaffolding and other traditional methods of working at height. Our new Korean facility brings more convenience to our customers and amplifies Skyjack’s brand awareness in the South Korean market.”
