MEC Xtra-Deck for booms

MEC Aerial Work Platforms has adapted its ‘Xtra-Deck’ option for use on boom lifts.

The company introduced the option for its scissor lifts this time last year as an engineered alternative to standing on the middle guardrail in order to gain a little extra height or reach through false ceilings etc... and thus eliminating the risk of falling. MEC has applied for a patent on the specific design details for both scissors and booms, both of which meet the latest ANSI standards which specifically rule out practices such as standing on the mid rail.

The MEC Xtra-Deck for boom lifts

As with the scissor lift option, the boom version offers 508mm/half a metre of extra height with guardrails on three sides of the Xtra-Deck which simply slide up and lock into place at the regulation 1.1 metre guardrail height. The additional protection allows the operator to confidently use both hands to complete the work, while its narrow dimensions allow access into tight work areas.

Xtra-Deck offers has a single person capacity of 113kg and is available on all of MEC's boom lift models, which offer platform heights from 34 to 65ft. When the job has been completed the Xtra-Deck quickly folds down and stows on the platform.
