Raimondi moves into Korea

Italian tower crane manufacturer Raimondi has appointed Lo An International as its official distributor in Korea.

Based in Seongnam, on the south side of Seoul, Lo An has been in business since 1994, working both in Korea and overseas. It kicked off the new partnership with an initial order for five 18 tonne capacity Raimondi LR273 luffing jib cranes, which will be followed by a further five Raimondi tower cranes in the coming months.

GU Machinery Construction Corporation purchased the first five LR273s, which offer jib lengths up to 60 metres and a free standing height of 44 metres which can be climbed to 100 metres. It has already taken delivery of the first two units, which are working on the Xi Apartment Complex development in Dongtan - a new city further south from Seoul - helping with the construction of 12 residential high-rise buildings which will house 1,297 homes. The remaining three LR273s are due to arrive in Korea by the end of March.

Lo An managing director Seung Soon Park, said: “We are proud to represent Raimondi Cranes in the region and to work with machines that meet the higher standards in terms of capabilities, innovation, and safety. The decision to purchase this specific Raimondi model came from the shortage of luffers within the East Asian market, and the versatility of this heavy lifter."

“The purchase of the LR273s came with a significant challenge due to the country regulations. In fact, since this model was the first one to be used in Korea, we had to ensure that the Raimondi luffing crane complied with a series of norms to officially operate in the region. This included a series of strict inspections and obtaining the approval process from both the government and the construction company. We consider the Raimondi LR273 as a milestone for our company and the Korean heavy lifting industry, and we are using this opportunity to reintroduce Raimondi as one of the strongest European brands in Korea.”

“Raimondi technical department was fundamental during the test operation and the installation process. Their support ensured the smoothness of the crane installations, while allowing us the chance to learn more about the new machines.”
