72m hoist for Grillo

Italian removals specialist Grillo Antonino has taken delivery of what it claims is the world's highest reaching truck mounted ladder type material/furniture hoist from local distributor CEM Elevatori.

The unit, a Korean built Horyong PE720, features a 10 section high tensile aluminium ladder mast, and offers lift heights of up to 72 metres with 400kg capacity in the cargo platform. The machine is a development of the existing 70 metre Horyong PE700.

Mounted on a three axle MAN TGX chassis it features dual stage out and down A-frame type rear outriggers, with high mounted two stage traditional beam and jack outriggers at the front. The heavier three axle truck avoids the need for the two bumper jacks installed on most PE700 units mounted on two axles for the Korean market.

Slew is 270 degrees, allowing for working over both sides and over the rear of the chassis, while the hydraulic drive ladder extension winch is dual wired with twin drums. The advanced controls use CAN bus mode from the superstructure control panel, or via a compact radio remote controller.

Managing director Fortunato Grillo said: "We have great satisfaction and emotion at this machine’s arrival, some two years after we began working on this project - with the fundamental support of CEM. It is also a fitting way to mark our 60th anniversary. The number of requests coming in for this machine are already mounting up. Mostly from the Milan metropolitan area where buildings are of considerable height, with extremely limited manoeuvring space."

Loris Manocchia of CEM added: "The arrival in Italy of the Horyong PE720 ladder today - the highest in the world - is an event that confirms the commitment and technological authority of CEM on the Italian market. We have followed this project with great determination, and we have succeeded in obtaining the construction of a ladder with unprecedented performance for this type of lifting machinery. This is also due to the synergy with the Horyong engineers who are able to work with us in the most flexible and open way."

CEM is the exclusive Paus importer for Italy and Malta and Spain, and for AMAK in Italy and Malta. It is also the Horyong distributor for Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Greece and Albania.
